Hannah Gustafson

Coalition Coordinator

Hannah brings over 25 years of experience working with Alaskan nonprofits and as a community organizer. Her passion for healthy youth and families  inspires her work with the Coalition. She oversees day-to-day operations, manages grants, and ensures the Coalition’s initiatives move forward efficiently. Hannah’s guiding mantra is that “change happens at the speed of trust.”

Fun fact: Part of her self-care regimen includes cold water immersion, which makes living on Kachemak Bay a joy year-round.

Vision for the Coalition: Building community excitement and engagement around the Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM).

How Hannah builds resilience: Reading, writing, yoga, working out, time in nature, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family.

 

Jay Bechtol

Jay Bechtol

Leadership Team Member

Jay, with over 30 years of social service experience, represents South Peninsula Behavioral Health Services (SPBHS). His work aligns with the Coalition’s mission to support individuals, families, and the community on their journeys.

Fun fact: Jay really likes Dr. Pepper. Like, obsessively so.

Vision for the Coalition: Making progress on youth initiatives and fostering collaboration among organizations.

How Jay builds resilience: Playing hockey and writing.

Lindsey Collins

Lindsey Collins

Leadership Team Member

Lindsey, the Executive Director of South Peninsula Haven House, brings nine years of experience in victim services to the Coalition. She is inspired by the resilience of the participants she works with daily.

Fun fact: Lindsey was a cheerleader in junior high and high school.

Vision for the Coalition: Strengthening connections between community leaders to achieve shared goals.

 

How Lindsey builds resilience: Modeling resilience for her children and practicing self-care.

Christine Fontaine

Christine Fontaine

Leadership Team Member

Christine represents South Peninsula Hospital and her background as a forensic nurse examiner and trauma-informed care leader supports her dedication to the Coalition’s goals. With over 20 years of nursing experience, she has worked to bring care and compassion to prevention and healing efforts in the community.

Fun fact: She’s currently fostering a puppy!

Vision for the Coalition: Sharing more information about the Icelandic Prevention Model with the community in 2025.

How Christine builds resilience: Taking on fun challenges, laughter with friends, backcountry trails, and snuggles with her pit bulls.

Sofia Loboy

Sofia Loboy

Youth Liaison

Born and raised in Homer, Sofia’s leadership within school clubs and her connection with local youth drive her role as a youth advocate. She co-created “Where Can I Homer,” a resource for teens to explore opportunities and activities in the community.

Fun fact: She could happily eat spaghetti every day of the week.

Vision for the Coalition: Establishing “Where Can I Homer” as a valuable resource in 2025.

How Sophia builds resilience: Practicing self-care and spending time with family.

John McGhee

John McGhee

Leadership Team Member and Fiscal Sponsor Liaison 

With 28 years of nonprofit human services experience across 10 countries, this new member brings invaluable leadership expertise to the Coalition.

Vision for the Coalition: Strengthening resilience through global and local experience.

How John builds resilience: Reading, camping, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and spending time with family and grandchildren.
